Cobot as robots designed specifically to work alongside with human employees will play a crucial role in helping to fill the gap in UK skills by freeing up time to allow this human works do other tasks that needs more skills.
Cobots were invented in the year 1996 by Edward J. Colgate and Michael Peshkin, who are professors at Northwestern University. US patent filing in 1997 describes cobots as “an apparatus and method for direct physical interaction between a person and a general-purpose manipulator controlled by a computer”. The first cobots that were developed guaranteed human safety by having no interior source of motive power. In its place, motive power was offered by the human being. Cobots was invented with a function to allow computer control of motion, by cooperatively redirecting a payload with a human worker.
The UK based cobots provider has doubled in size due having more global branded clients. Cobot was designed specifically to work together as coworkers where an industrial robot is not the best. Together with the UK growth there will be needed to employ the best cobot engineering talent as well as human workers for other tasks as UK look forward for international expansion.
