Mr Pepper robot is a semi-human robot made by SoftBank Robotics, designed with the ability to read through emotions. It was first presented in June 5, 2014 in a conference and its available in Softbank mobile phone stores in Japan the very next day. Mr Pepper’s robot has inbuilt capacity to spot emotions that comes from the capacity to analyze expressions and voice tones. Pepper is a robot shaped in a child height, it has been designed to be a genuine companion that perceives and acts upon a range of human emotions.
In some countries such as UK, Mr Pepper robot is currently being used as a receptionist at several offices and with the use of facial recognition, the robot is able to recognise visitors, send alerts for meeting co-ordinators and organize for drinks to be made available. Mr Pepper robot is even said to be able to chat with prospective clients. The first to be used Mr Pepper robot receptionist was installed in UK at Brainlabs.
Mr Pepper robot has been used also in medical field, restaurants financial institution such as banks using app created by Seikatsu Kakumei in Japan. Mr Pepper robot is also available in educational sectors as a researcher robot for schools, colleges and universities.
Mr Pepper robot is not a robot designed for domestic use. It was designed to make like enjoyable, facilitate relationships, enhance the lives of people, have fun with people and make people interact with the outside world. Mr Pepper robot is the world first human robot that can recognise human faces and basic human emotion. Mr Pepper robot was designed for human communication and can engage with human through interaction and his touch screen.
